The Boston Harbor Hotel is excited to reintroduce its iconic bar as ‘The Dark Bar.’ The new name is inspired by what patrons have been unofficially calling the bar for years and preserves the ambiance and charm patrons have loved while embracing new beginnings.
"We are thrilled to unveil The Dark Bar as the next evolution of our beloved Rowes Wharf Bar within the Boston Harbor Hotel," said Stephen Johnston, Managing Director of the Boston Harbor Hotel. "While the name may have changed, our commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience remains unwavering. We invite our loyal patrons and newcomers alike to join us as we embark on this exciting new chapter."
For years, Rowes Wharf Bar has been synonymous with sophistication and charm, drawing locals and visitors alike to its iconic waterfront location within the Boston Harbor Hotel. Now, under the new moniker of The Dark Bar, the venue is set to welcome guests with the same old-world allure with contemporary flair. The Dark Bar welcomes guests into a world bathed in sunset cherry tones, complemented by the subtle aroma of smoked roses. With dim lighting and plush leather seating, the ambiance sets the stage for evenings filled with award-winning cocktails and engaging conversation. Recently honored as one of Food & Wine Magazine's "Top 15 Hotel Bars" in 2024, The Dark Bar remains a cherished destination for discerning patrons seeking refined experiences both near and far.
The menu features a raw bar, and savory bar bites and bar-friendly entrees inspired by New England and created by Chef David Daniels.
The bar boasts a cocktail program inspired by Jerry Thomas, featuring the city's most extensive selection of fine scotches and a dedication to crafting dynamic cocktails using fruits, herbs, and spices. Highlights include rare single malts and cognacs such as Louis XIII De Remy Martin, Macallan M, Balvenie 40 Year, Glenfiddich Grane Couronne 26 Year, and Laphroaig 34 Year Ian Hunter Story Book 5. Notably, The Dark Bar proudly offers The Balvenie 60, Balvenie's oldest and most expensive single malt, with just 71 bottles available worldwide. Priced at $145,000 per bottle, patrons can savor a 1.5oz pour for $12,500, making The Dark Bar one of only two American bars to feature this exclusive offering.
The Dark Bar introduces The Late Meeting, featuring mini versions of three iconic cocktails with a twist paying homage to 1928 Bhakta. This selection includes a Dark & Stormy, Espresso Martini, and Old Fashioned. Collaborating with the award-winning local distillery Tree House, the bar has also launched The New Englander, including house vodka, Kola coffee liqueur, and Tree House vanilla coffee beans.
The bar is open Sunday to Thursday from 4:00pm to 12:00am and Friday and Saturday from 4:00pm to 1:00am.
