Boston, MA (August 28th, 2025) — The Boston Harbor Hotel is reaffirming it's leadership in hospitality sustainability with reimagined guest services and impactful initiatives aimed at reducing waste and preserving the longevity of Boston's waterfront and oceans waters.

"Our sustainability programs are not just initatives — they are a reflection of our values, woven into every guest experience," said General Manager Stephen Johnston. "We want out guests to enjoy the beauty of Boston's waterfront today, while knowing we are working to protect it for generations to come."

Guided by its dedicated Sustainability Committee, the hotel is making meaningful changes to luxury travel through four pillars: plastic consumption, food, energy, and water.

The guestrooms reflect a thoughtful approach to eco-conscious living. Single-use plastics have been significantly reduced with refillable dispensers, nickel containers for toiletries, and reusable laundry and shoe bags. Nespresso capsules are fully recyclable, and plastic straws have been replaced with bamboo and paper to help protect nearby marine life.

In it's culinary program, the Boston Harbor Hotel celebrates the richness of the region by sourcing sustainability and locally, partnering with nearby farms and purveyors. Food waste is also locally recycled and converted to renewable energy, further reducing environmental impact.

To conserve energy, LED lighting reduces consumption while advanced air systems help purify and circulate indoor air. Electric vehicle charger stations are avaliable in the parking garage to support hybrid and electric vehicles.

As a waterfront property, the hotel is committed to protecting marine environments. Guests can enjoy climate-neutral canned aluminum water, supporting cleaner oceans with every refreshment, and participate in a voluntary linen reuse program that encourages thoughtful sustainability.

In addition, Boston Harbor Hotel has partnered with 4ocean to offer a dedicated sustainability-focused package. Guests who book the 4ocean Package enjoy a paperless stay, welcome drinks and appetizers delivered through In-Room Dining, exclusive 4ocean bracelets, complimentary EV charging, and four general admission tickets to the New England Aquarium. By opting out of daily housekeeping and turndown service, each stay helps conserve an estimated 15 gallons of water per cleaning and 30 gallons on laundry. With every booking, guests directly support 4ocean's mission to remove plastic from oceans, rivers, and coastlines worldwide.

The Boston Harbor Hotel's sustainability leadership has been recognized with some of the industries highest honors. The property holds 4 our 4 Green Keys from Green Key Global for excellence in energy and water conservation, waste reduction, and responsible operations; has earned LEED® Gold Certification for its superior materials; and was awarded BOMA's TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) for exceptional building management, operational efficiency, and service quality.
