Meet Joseph Galanek
Boston Harbor Hotel Bellman

Always happy to lend a hand
“Let me grab that bag for you” are the words that have become so familiar over the course of 31 years for bellman, Joseph Galanek. A first impression is a lasting one for guests upon their arrival, as they pull up on Atlantic Ave in the heart of Rowes Wharf.
Providing a pleasant experience for guests is one of the many ways a bellman sets the tone for a memorable stay. Whether it’s a guest from afar who is spending time in the city or a local Bostonian who wants a weekend for themselves, Joseph is always attentive. His friendly manor catches the eyes of any individual who strolls by the opening doors of the hotel with a brilliant smile.
“Making the guest happy.”
Is what brings the most joy to him. As simple as carrying a heavy suitcase, placing it on a hotel cart or greeting a family with a warm welcome as they walk through the golden doors of the Boston Harbor, his connection with others matters greatly. Boston holds a very special place in his heart, traveling from Londonderry, New Hampshire every morning bright and early.
“It’s the people that make Boston so special.”
Bellman work closely with one another to assure guests are receiving high quality service and proper care. A laugh, smile, or nod are sometimes the simplest gestures Joseph alludes towards the doorman when communicating.
“To me, teamwork means getting along with my peers and doing the right thing.”
